Picnic in the Park – again open to all and the more the merrier and this would be in the early summertime around end of July to make the best of school holidays because we all deserve a break.

You can bring your own games, food and of course not forgetting your picnic blanket and chairs. This is a social get together and we hope to arrange some fun and games for all to participate in.

We would need some volunteers to help us prepare for the day if you feel this is something you can do? We also hope those who can, might want to bring

kites so we can have a colourful display of your kite flying skills and perhaps even teach others the art of the Indian fighting kite.

Please email your suggestions for a great fun day to Committee at committee@bmuk.org

Coach trip – back by popular demand and again we hope to have a trip to the coast possibly later around end of August or just befor school resumes – the date to be determined.

This has always been a great fun day out with everyone enjoying journey to the coast and a picnic on the beach so don’t miss out! Watch out for further news on this outing.

Mehfil – an evening of dinner and dance with live music that will please everyone young and old. This event is planned for late September.

We have had these music evening for many years and again it will be open to members and friends as a ticketed event with the cost subsidised as much as it can be – obviously the more people we can attract the lower per head the costs so start getting prepare.

Navratri – our annual celebration of the Raas and Garba festival is scheduled over 3 days in October 5th, 12th and 19th (Sharad Punam) at the Arya Samaj Hall on 69A Argyle Road West Ealing W13 0LY.

We aim to have live music so you can enjoy the events with other members, friends and family so all welcome. However, we need to make sure we do not exceed the venue capacity so please do register your interest online when the event is advertised on the BMUK website.

Last year we had an amazing turnout and some amazing examples of new of Raas and Garba styles. We hope to arrange for the best traditional aarti thali competition as well as best dress and dance by age groups.

So more details will follow. Let’s make this year yet another colourful success for all.

Xmas party – on the boat is something we have always wanted to arrange and this year we want to do this in style with as many people as we can accommodate around mid-December.

The actual date and arrangements will be advertised in due course and this will be a ticketed event so advanced booking will be required.

The cost will again be subsidised as much as it can be and bookings will be on a first
come first serve basis. So get your party outfits ready for a trip down the Thames and against the spectacular London backdrop and skyline.

Whilst we try to make these events as inviting and attractive as possible and to the widest range of members, the success of these events

is down to members and your participation. Let’s all make the effort to support these events and others. So, if you have any suggestions, please do let the committee know. If no one speaks up then the committee will not be aware.

We all want events that we and our family and kids can enjoy but they need to be practical and achievable. Better still – join the committee so you can make a difference to the way we approach matters and have an impact that will lead to growing a stronger more connected and inclusive community.

It may not always be easy and therein the challenge so lets all take the community forward to bigger better things – its all down to you. On behalf of

the Committee and Trustees we are grateful to all that participate in community events and the support. Let’s really try and make 2024 the year that grows and nurtures BMUK further to bring us all back again as a community.

There is so much more we can do…in the meantime enjoy the change as we move away from the chilly winds and rain into early spring.

With the best wishes from BMUK committee and Trustees.
