Dear Members,

How has time flown?! We hope you have all had a wonderful Summer. Navratri and Diwali are both around the corner.
This year we are able to get back to a ‘new’ normal. We shall be having a full Diwali meeting on Sunday 6 November at Kingsbury High School – see details overleaf.

We are really excited and looking forward to meeting everyone after such a long time. For various reasons, we will be unable to hold Navratri celebrations this year, but certainly will host them again in 2023.

Directions

We have received some additional information regarding parking and some direction for the Croft Hall, as below from the Caretakers of Kingsbury high school.

  • Access is via Bacon Lane gate ONLY as stag Lane gate remains CLOSED due to drain / road works.

  • Please park on the MUGA only as the rest of the parking spaces are in use by the Romanian Church who are aware that you will be on site too.

  • Please kindly advise the caterers to go in via the Caretakers entrance to get to the Croft Dining Hall, as there is no accessvia the back gates.

  • Please also kindly ensure all guests arrive / leave the premises safely and quietly out of respect for the local residents (especially when accessing the bacon lane gate as it’s a bit of a blind spot there!)

Please do not hesitate to call any of the BMUK committee members or Mr. Dilip and Mr. Kanji, Tel no. 07507 634 538, if you have any trouble finding the venue.

BMUK Directory 2023

As you all know, we now have a new BMUK Members Directory, 2023. Copies will be available to purchase (£5- per copy) on the day at the Diwali Meeting. Thank you to those who ordered copies in advance, your copy has been reserved.

AGM and Elections

At the upcoming Diwali meeting we will be holding our elections for Committee members. You, the members, must elect (or re-elect) a committee which includes between 5 and 9 people. Nomination forms are available on the BMUK website (www.bmuk.org) and will be available on the day at the Diwali meeting. Alternatively, you can email your nomination to the Committee Secretary at rajesh.ashra@bumk.org

To be on the Committee you must be a fully paid-up member, over 18.

Being a Committee Member is rewarding! It requires a commitment of a few hours a month for meetings and during event days and easily fits into normal life. There is so much to be achieved and we would particularly welcome younger members (minimum age 18) to come forward. Be encouraged to give something back and to help take BMUK, your community and heritage, forward (and meet great people along the way!).

It is an invaluable experience, and the Community needs those with a positive and constructive ‘can -do’ approach. In return, you will experience a great sense of achievement and belonging, as well as pride and satisfaction.

Logo for BMUK

We have had the same Logo for a number of years, and we are looking to change the logo to a contemporary, modern design.

We welcome new ideas and designs, so feel free to bring them along to the Diwali Meeting or email them to a committee member.
